In reply to Mary M. You will use 2 times as many fresh elderberries vs dried. so if the recipe calls for 1/2 cup dried, you will use 1 cup fresh.

why do you say dried elderberries? I want to use mine off the bushes & was looking for your recipe. Hope fresh is the same!

Thank you for sharing this elderberry syrup recipe. When I use the specified amount of honey the recipe calls for, I get complaints that it is too sweet. We know why we use the honey. My question is, if we use alcohol can we cut back on the amount of honey, as for instance in this recipe, would it still be enough preservative to use 1 or 2 cups of honey.

Thank you for your elderberry syrup recipe. I am a believer of the benefits of elderberry syrup. This saves money for so many.
