Horseradish at its best. Clearing out pathogens, stuck mucus and keeping things moving

I am so excited to share this NEW herbal remedy with you.

I have to say, with 30+ years of taking care of colds and congestion using herbs, I have kind of settled into my ‘ways’ of doing things and it has been quite some time since a NEW remedy has been added to my apothecary.

But I recently was given this herbal remedy and it worked so well that I just had to share it with you! It is AH-MAZ-ING for clearing out congestion!

Here’s the story…

One of my very first herb teachers, Jane Bothwell invited me to dinner at her utterly magical home and school, the Dandelion Herbal Center: http://www.dandelionherb.com/

Jane’s home and school is so intriguing, with baskets and plants and herbal remedies all around. She has been teaching community herbalism for more than 40 years and her herb room and gardens are gorgeous!

I studied with Jane in the mid-1980’s and her teachings have filled my life for so many years. If you ever get a chance to take a class at her school, do it! It is worth a road trip from anywhere!

After eating an herb filled meal, plenty of herbal drinks and talking non-stop herbal gossip, it was time to say good bye. As I was walking out the door she said, “Here, we just made this in class, go ahead and take this”

WOW! I knew it was horseradish, but it tasted so good and went down so easy! Over the next 3 weeks I ate the entire jar and set out to make it myself!

Thank you Jane!

This remedy is horseradish. You know, like the wasabi that comes with sushi. Have you ever eating too much wasabi or horseradish sauce and suddenly your head is throbbing, eyes turning red, tears gushing down your face, ears tingling, snot dripping from your nose – and then it all stops.

You catch your breath and notice your head is clear, your sinuses have opened up and you feel pretty good!

This is one HOT remedy.

If you are pregnant, menopausal or are always hot, this is not the remedy for you.

But, if you tend to run cold, if certain foods cause mucus, if you feel like you ate something that is causing congestion, a little horseradish may be the perfect thing.

Yes, I said a little… You know that saying, “A little dab will do ya”.

This is an herb, where if it isn’t right for you or if you take too much, it can cause a headache and heat symptoms.

I love to take a bite of this after eating meat or dairy or a heavier meal. Or if I wake up in the morning with congestion, just a ¼ teaspoon of this horseradish apple slush, added to my tea, takes care of it.

So, I think you get the gest, this remedy has to be right for you and the situation and taken in small amounts.

What makes this remedy so good is the addition of apple. The sweetness and cooling nature of apple, helps calm the heating effects of the horseradish and make it palatable!

The one thing I recommend, is to use a sweeter apple if you can. Of course, use whatever kind of apple you have access to, but I found that a sweet apple is tastes better than a more tart or sour apple.

Fresh horseradish is often found at bigger grocery stores. It is also very easy to grow. Once it gets established in the garden, it can really take off.

The honey, vinegar and salt help to preserve it and the honey also helps the horseradish go down a little easier.
