Let’s take a closer look at what’s in our hawthorn berry heart tonic honey…
Honey
Honey is antioxidant and antibacterial. Adding honey to your food and drinks enhances absorption of nutrients and helps to deliver the medicinal qualities of herbs deeper into the body.
Try to use a honey that is local to where you live. Raw honey is full of healing enzymes that are destroyed in the heating process. When you buy honey from someone local, you can ask them about their processing methods and whether they heat the honey.
Hawthorn Berry
Hawthorn berry (Crataegus spp.) is one of our best herbal tonics for the heart. Well-substantiated uses of hawthorn berry include lowering blood pressure, improving circulatory disorders, and enhancing cardiac output.
Hawthorn strengthens the heart and promotes longevity. It has numerous positive effects on cardiac function and is considered a tonic for the circulatory system. Hawthorn helps to maintain healthy veins, arteries, and capillaries. It decreases capillary permeability and fragility and supports the flow of blood to the heart.
Note: Hawthorn berries can be contraindicated while taking certain cardiac medications.
Rose Hip
Rose hips (Rosa spp.) are loaded with vitamins and minerals, and their carminative properties aid in the absorption of nutrients. Rose hips’ anti-inflammatory flavonoids help to protect the gastrointestinal mucous membrane from the inflammation that is a rampant side effect of eating processed and pesticide-contaminated foods.
Excessive use of over-the-counter medications and antibiotics has also contributed to the epidemic of inflamed gut syndromes. The soothing and restorative properties of rose hips are a relieving balm for the chronic digestive illnesses that burden our society.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a healing spice that increases circulation and helps to digest desserts, smoothies, and meals that contain grains and cold dairy such as milk, yogurt, and ice cream.
Ginger
Ginger increases circulation, reduces inflammation, and fights colds and flu. This herb also demonstrates efficacy in lowering the blood levels of triglycerides common in diabetes.

Hi 🌺
I made your other hawthorn recipe that included Ghee. I have it with some warm goats milk and a spoon of rose jam that I made with rose petals, honey and jaggery. Yum!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I have the dried ingredients, just have to figure out how to powder them
I find an electric coffee grinder very effective. Make sure it’s thoroughly clean first. Great for grinding up spices too.
I love hawthorn, have been using it for 6 years now to control heart palpitations, with my cardiologist approval. Live new recipes using hawthorn!
I will try this, since my blood pressure usually run high. I am not taking medication for it. Only natural things. Love and peace.
