The Coronavirus is categorized as a cold/damp pathogen in Chinese Medicine so reducing dampness in our own body can help to reduce our susceptibility to the virus. There are some simple things we can all do to recognize and reduce dampness and increase the strength of our immunity.

I find it quite ironic this virus originated in a “wet” market. I have been doing a lot of the things you suggest and have been on a ketogenic diet for over 2 years so the bread, pasta, rice and sugar has been minimal. But there is always something new to learn. Thank you for sharing.

If you want to do green drinks, what you can do, is pull the veggies out of the fridge the night before, so that when you juice them, they are room temperature

Yes, there is so much we can learn about observing our body. I never received any messages about listening to my body when i was growing up. It is a life long learning for me to slow down and listen. But we can take this time that we have right now and give some love to ourselves. Take good care
Thank you Kami, Warming spices and herbs give me horrible reflux and heartburn so I have to tread lightly with anything that brings heat. So this virus worries me more then most. Especially since I live damp already this time of year from seasonal allergies. At least I’m a vegan so dairy is not a problem to give up.
Try a combination of half part fennel seed and half part coriander. The spices you use don’t have to be hot.

What about eating fruit? Should we maybe eat warm applesauce instead of an apple?
Good question. Try not to eat fruit cold from the fridge. No frozen fruit.
You can add water and simmer some pear and apple with cinnamon or eat your fruit at room temperature.
Some foods are more damp than others. Bananas can be more congesting where as raspberries are much less
Is it helpful to eat foods like Chili, Tacos, Hot Salsas, Curry, etc, and use hot sauces and red pepper flakes and other hot spices on/in our foods? Sorry, I wasn’t aware that the previous posts had registered and I couldn’t figure out how to delete them. Thank you for this video, I will share your recommendations with my large family.
Hi Mary, all of those foods are antimicrobial. How hot you should eat really depends on your personal constitution. People that have a more firey and dry constitution, those foods can be drying.

My house is very dry so I have been running a humidifier. In light of your discussion of Coronavirus being a damp virus, would it be better to not be running it at this time.
Hi Heather, we also need to keep our lung tissue moist and moving. We have a humidifier going because we use a wood stove and it dries out our mucus membrane. I am talking about recognizing deeper dampness in the body. But we have to stay hydrated

I’ve been drinking lots of hot ginger/cinnamon tea, with a few cloves thrown into the pot, just because I like the taste. Hadn’t considered warming my lemon water, but will start doing so. I keep a pitcher of filtered water with an organic lemon sliced thinly in it. Refreshing!
