In the sweltering summer heat, drinking chilled drinks is a necessity. I enjoy having special drinks in summer — something more than plain ice water. This tropical pineapple cream smoothie is perfectly refreshing and nourishing when the climate is hot.
A Healthier Pineapple Smoothie
The thing is, most pineapple smoothie recipes are a bit boring and not necessarily great for your health. Frozen foods and drinks like smoothies can hinder digestion and cause congestion. But we can use the power of herbs to balance things out!
Here’s a recipe packed with herbal goodness so that your smoothie doesn’t just taste delicious, it’s therapeutic too. Let’s take a look at what’s inside in our tropical pineapple cream smoothie…
Pineapple: Juicy, sweet pineapple is a summer treat. Pineapple is also loaded with vitamin C, manganese, and bromelain, a group of enzymes that aids digestion, fights inflammation, and promotes tissue healing.
Ginger: Although refreshing, frozen drinks can slow down digestion. Adding ginger to your smoothie stimulates digestion and gets rid of congestion. Plus, the ginger flavor complements the pineapple and coconut.
Lavender: Lavender helps soothe the restlessness and irritability that can arise in the heat of summer. It calms agitation and brings a feeling of well-being, softening the impact of stress.
Cardamom: Frozen foods like smoothies can cause congestion. Sprinkling the warmth of cardamom into your smoothie moves out mucus. Cardamom also supports digestion, which in turns helps with energy levels.
Nutmeg: Like cardamom, nutmeg is a carminative herb, and the digestive benefits help to mediate the effects of rich, creamy foods. Its warming nature also helps to balance the coldness of the smoothie.
Lemon Balm: Lemon balm has an evocative taste and adds a nice spiking note to smoothies. Both relaxing and uplifting, this herb promotes a better mood and helps to resolve anxiety and tension.
