This tea is amazing & has helped so many people I have shared your recipe with. My question is there any harm in using it for more than 1 week if still experiencing congestion? You said it can be used up to a week. Thank you so much for sharing your herbal knowledge with others.
There is no harm to consume for more than a week , hopefully you won’t need to, but it is not a everyday tea.

What can I use if I don’t have cardomom?
You can leave it out. All of my recipes are meant to be played with, go ahead and experiment!
Hello- was wondering what’s the shelf life for it once it’s mixed? Thank you
Honey lasts many, many years…the powders will decrease in effectiveness over time.
Thank you, I appreciate your sharing.
Iwould love to try this recipe but black pepper usually bring on acid refux. Is there any kind of substitute for the black peper?
I will try this, I have had phlegm for over two months that I cannot break-up and get rid of. THANKYOU!
Amazing the many uses of tumeric
Yes, it is a wonderful herb!
Sitting opposite a sniffing as I read will definitely put it to practise. Plus I have a summer garden (Australia) that’s flourishing with turmeric…yippee and thank you 🤩
Thank you for sharing! This sounds yummy and easy!
Thanks Kami for the Decongestant Drink. Will make some for winter use.
Can’t wait to try this!

love herbal honeys, something i learned from you years ago at an herbal workshop you taught at the scarlet sage 🙂 thanks for the lovely reminder!
I’ve been battling a terrible runny and stuffy nose. I just tried this after an hour of not being able to put down the cloth to blow into. By the time I finished the mug, I quit sneezing and 20 minutes later while still not fully cleared, I can breathe through one nostril and put the hanky down. Much more effective – and despite being a little intense, still much better tasting – than about anything else I’ve tried.
Thank you!
great recipe thanks
What a delicious-sounding recipe! The spices are really yummy, too. I have a question, mainly since I find using honey a bit hard for me–I have to watch simple sugar intake. I’m not sure if this item contains more, or less, simple sugar, but it really tastes like a really low-glycemic option. Syrups like Agave, Raisin, or Grape could be used instead of honey? I have to try it. Not sure if they would soak up the spices the way honey does?
HI Elizabeth, thanks for your question, sorry I have to say i haven’t tried these other options….
Oh boy, I gave this recipe to my son and when he called me he said that it was thick and really hard to drink. I questioned him and guess what, he didn’t read the add 1 tsp – 1tbs to a cup of warm water, he seen the ingredients that included the warm water and added that to the honey mixture and drank that!OMG do you think this will harm him? He also gave it to his wife who is nursing their 2 month old daughter. Maybe you should not have the 1 cup of warm water in the… Read more »
Hi Marlene,
Thanks for your email.
Yeah, it is hard when people don’t follow the exact directions.
I can’t believe they actually drank that, that must have been hard!!
Herbs are not like drugs, and that is a small amount of all of those herbs.
It just must have tasted awful trying to drink them like that! Argh.
I changed the recipe card as you suggested. Oh well, I bet they aren’t going to try any of your ‘herbal ideas’ for awhile!
I thank you for this recipe I made it haven’t had to try it yet but I’m ready for sure thank you again for sharing.
Is it OK to make your different recipes without honey or other sweetener? Cancer doesn’t need and other conditions don’t need it.
Yes, absolutely, these are just guidelines.
thank you ! Can I share on my fb too?
Yes, absolutely, please spread the word!
Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I heard you mention that this is not really a remedy for children under 8, is there a way to make this an effective decongestant for kids under 8? Our whole family suffers from allergies.
The herbs that I work with most for children are fennel seed, elder flower and chamomile. Elder flower is a great decongestant tea for children
Honey should be added to “warm” water less than 140 degrees. High heat destroys beneficial properties. Buy raw local unheated honey!
Can’t wait to try this! I often get lots of nasal drainage esp. in the mornings. Also, sneezing along with it at times. Since I also get chilled easily, I’m hoping this will keep me warmer.
I will definitely be giving this a try and keep on hand, sometimes when allergies are bad I feel like putting a hose up me nose and just let in run into a bucket it gets so bad.
Just want to thankyou for your time +talent + for wanting to help others..You are certainly appreciated!
I have a cool, damp constitution so will be trying this for sure. Thanks !
too bad I did not watch this earlier! 4 days ago, though I felt so bad that I never even went through my emails…. but I will surely write it down and use it! Today honey with some sage tincture seems to do the trick, congestion has already gotten better 🙂 Thanks so much!
Wish I knew about this recipe years ago! Thanks for the great info!
