Herbal Gargle Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of herbal tea (see suggested herbs below)
  • 1/4 tsp of salt

Instructions

  • Make tea as you normally would for drinking.
  • Combine the tea and salt in a jar and shake well to combine.
  • To gargle, use the tea as warm as you can stand, but not so hot that you burn yourself.
  • Take some tea into your mouth. Gargle and spit, gargle and spit, gargle and spit.
  • Make-ahead tip: You can triple this recipe and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Take out 1 cup at a time and warm it up before gargling.

Notes

Suggested Herbs:
You can use fresh or dried herbs or even a tea bag. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon dried herb per 1 cup of water.
  • Elderflower (Sambucus nigra)
  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
  • Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus)
  • Sage (Salvia officinalis)
  • Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
