People have surrounded themselves with roses but have forgotten that their blossoms are useful for more than bouquets. There are hundreds of ways to use rose petals!
Roses are a valuable food and medicine ingredient and of course have a traditional reputation of being associated with love and beauty. The benefits of rose petals include:
- Cool the body
- Shrink redness and inflammation
- Calm sunburns, rashes, and heat-induced headaches
- Tighten and heal skin tissue
- Prevent infection of minor cuts
- Reduce swelling of bruises and sprains
- Soothe anxiety, restlessness, and nervousness
Any color rose (Rosa species) can be used for food and medicine. Just be sure they are organically grown and free of pesticides.
Here are ten of my favorite ways to use rose petals…
