Lavender’s name comes from Latin roots, lavare, which means to wash. We can use the medicine of lavender to “wash” on many levels. Lavender is highly antibacterial and it disinfects and kills bacteria. Because of this, it is great for cold and flu prevention in your household.

Lavender can also help people feel relaxed and happy. The aroma of lavender relaxes the nervous system and produces a calming and soothing effect on the body. Cleaning is more pleasant with the scent of lavender filling up the house!

rosemary infused vinegar for cleaning

Rosemary

Rosemary infused vinegar for cleaning helps cleanse the room of bacteria and emotional tension. As a highly antibacterial herb, rosemary helps prevent colds.

It is also energetically cleansing. Rosemary has a purifying effect and can remove energetic things out of your space. This is my go-to herb when I want to move through some energy and shift something.

The scent of rosemary is piney, kind of woody, and a bit lemony. It has an invigorating, refreshing, and exhilarating effect.

All-Natural Ingredients

In addition to the vinegar, lavender, and rosemary, this DIY all-purpose cleaner calls for three simple ingredients:

  • Vegetable-based liquid soap (also known as castile soap), which is made from plant-derived ingredients and contains no harsh chemicals or sudsing agents
  • Borax, a natural mineral that acts as a cleaner, stain remover, and emulsifier
  • Baking soda, a natural deodorizer, stain remover, and mild abrasive

Vinegar All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup dried lavender
  • 2 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable-based liquid soap
  • 1 tbsp borax
  • 2 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • Put the lavender, rosemary, and vinegar in a clean glass jar. Cover the jar with wax/greaseproof paper and put the lid on.
  • After a couple of days, check the jar to see if you need to top it off with more vinegar.
  • Let the mixture infuse in a cool, dark place for one month, and then strain out and discard the herbs.
  • Put the strained vinegar, hot water, liquid soap, borax, and baking soda into a spray bottle. Shake until the minerals dissolve.
  • Shake before spraying and use to clean your house.
